Federal
US Representative, District 8- John Garamendi. He’s done good work as our representative.
State
Governor- Xavier Bercerra. I’m not happy about the anti-trans stances he’s taken, but his opponent was an architect of Brexit and I think it’s quite clear that did not work.
Lieutenant Governor- Fiona Ma. She’s done a good job as Treasurer.
Secretary of State- Shirley Weber. She has done a good job protecting our votes against active attack from the federal government.
Controller- Malia Cohen. She has done a good job as Controller.
Attorney General- Rob Bonta. He’s been willing to fight back against Trump, even if he was willing to settle with Paramount.
Insurance Commissioner- Jane Kim. Our current insurance system in this state is failing- we need drastic changes to fix it. Jane is offering that.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction- Richard Barrera. His opponent is a transphobe, and that’s particularly dangerous in an education role.
State Board of Equalization, District 2- Sally Lieber. She’s done a good job as incumbent and is pro trans rights.
Judges- Yes. I’m unaware of any allegations against any of the judges listed on the ballot or cause for them not to be retained.
Local
Pinole City Council- Christy Lam-Julian, Gabriel Sandoval, Tina Brown. I know Christy and Gabriel from my work with them the past few years on the Pinole Planning Commission- and while we disagreed at times, they were dedicated to doing what was best for the city. I appreciate Tina’s background and experiences with housing, which could help the city as it works on housing issues.
Contra Costa Community College District, Ward 1- Cameron Sasai. Cameron has done solid work on the Pinole City Council, and has recent experience as a student within the district which he can use to address challenges the district faces and connect with students.
