Statewide

CA Governor- Tom Steyer. He supports trans rights, which entirely too few Democratic candidates are willing to do these days. He’s also the most in alignment with me on other issues.

CA Lt. Governor- Michael Tubbs. I’m impressed by his work in Stockton on Universal Basic Income.

CA Secretary of State- Dr. Shirley Weber. She’s done a good job as Secretary of State so far.

CA Controller- Malia Cohen. She’s done fine so far.

CA Attorney General- Rob Bonta. While I think he could have done better enforcing CA law in regards to trans rights, overall he has done well at standing up to the Trump administration.

CA Insurance Commissioner- Jane Kim. The insurance marketplace in California is fundamentally broken. Jane is at least trying to take a large enough response.

CA State Board of Equalization District 2- Sally J Lieber. She’s done a good job as the incumbent and is pro trans rights.

CA Superintendent of Public Instruction- Nichelle Henderson. She’s gone to a fair amount of effort to do outreach statewide.

Contra Costa County

Judge of the Superior Court- Jesse J Hsieh. I haven’t heard anything terrible about his rulings.

Assessor- Nick Spinner. He’s actually trying to modernize the department, and has the needed technical chops to give it a go.

Clerk-Recorder- Kristin Braun Connelly. She’s done a good job as the incumbent, particularly in doing outreach to communities and community groups.

County Supervisor, District 1- John Gioia. He’s done a good job as supervisor.

Ballot Measures

Measure A- Yes. The Urban Limit Line should remain.

Measure B- Yes. Given the massive cuts from the federal government to health care, it’s essential that the county has funds to cover those costs.

Measure D- No. There’s no proponent argument, and an elected mayor for a longer term creates risks for the mayor and the city.

Measure E- Yes. If we do have an elected mayor, they should have as short a term as possible.

Measure F- No.

Measure G- Yes. Community colleges are excellent examples of the type of infrastructure bonds are fit for- long-term benefit for the community as a whole that can’t be supported by up-front expenditure.
